Neeltje Huppes was born in the Netherlands. At a young age, she became a member of a special commission set up by the Dutch government to revamp education in secondary schools. Her search for in-depth innovation led her to Sri Aurobindo and the Mother, and in the 1970s she came to Pondicherry. Subsequently she lived for 15 years in the Sri Aurobindo Ashram-Delhi Branch. She founded there, together with Matthijs Cornelissen, Mirambika, a research centre for free progress education, which the Mother defined as “education guided by the soul.” The urge for a more intense inner quest brought her in 1991 to Pondicherry, where she is presently teaching in the Sri Aurobindo International Centre of Education. She gives workshops on the development of the psychic being as well as on integral education. She wrote Psychic Education: A Workbook, published by Sri Aurobindo Education Society, New Delhi, 2001. Though originally intended primarily for educators, this book has been widely appreciated by other fellow seekers as a guide for spiritual personal growth.
